Developers see green when they look at the land surrounding the Santa Susana Field Laboratory. Not the green of its beautiful rolling hills, however, but the green of the money they could make by developing the property for residential use. There would be perhaps nothing wrong with that if contaminants from nearby Rocketdyne somehow magically stayed within the site boundaries and didn’t migrate to neighboring soil and water. Three development projects have been proposed near SSFL: Ahmanson Ranch, Dayton Canyon, and Runkle Canyon. Each has had a different fate. Click the images below to learn more.
